Danish flooring producer, Ege Carpets’ best-selling Canvas Collage collection has after five years of success been completely refreshed and revitalised through the addition of new patterns and colour combinations. Canvas Collage has been installed in countless offices and hospitality facilities around the world.
KBAC Flooring, now in its 50th year of operations, is the sole South African supplier of Ege Carpets.
The new-look Canvas Collage was developed for Ege by Dutch designer, Nicolette Brunklaus, who designed the original Canvas Collage collection. While beautifully updating the Octo, Linen, Rewoven and Faded Dahlia designs, Canvas Collage is now also enriched with Twine – a completely new design inspired by the transparent linings of yarns and fringes where light and shadow add a characteristic depth. Twine features three patterns with varying degrees of colour.
Fascinated by the power of perfect combinations, Brunklaus uses colour as a positive and poetic way to influence space and lift people up. The tactility of carpet makes it one of her favourite materials but it is the contradiction in the combination of the materials that fascinates her the most. Brunklaus uses the computer as sketchpad while photographing colours and structures before mixing them into compositions. By layering patterns and colours, she creates completely new images.
Canvas Collage is available as broadloom, tiles and planks in five harmonious design themes to be mixed within the collection or combined with other Ege Carpets designs. All tiles use the patented Cradle-to-Cradle Ecotrust felt backing made from used water bottles. When combined with the face qualities of Ege’s Highline 1100, Highline Loop or Highline Carré which are made from Econyl yarn derived from fishing nets and other industrial waste, Ege Carpets can offer designers a totally sustainable floor.
Founded in 1938, Ege is one of Europe’s leading companies in the design, development and production of unique, high-quality carpets with respect for the environment.
