INTERFACE FLOORING HAS PRIDE OF PLACE IN NEW PAARL HEAD OFFICES

Lion’s Pride, the striking new head offices of chemical supplier UDEC and medical company, Neurospine, based in the Zandwyk Industrial Park in Paarl was designed by Architects in Association (AiA) with KBAC Flooring Cape Town supplying and installing the impressive flooring.

Shirley Milne, architectural consultant for KBAC Flooring, worked closely with Barbara Farrell (UDEC) and Rob Farrell (Neurospine) in selecting the flooring finish which combined Interface 50cm x 50cm carpet tiles and Interface 1m x 25cm carpet planks to create a textured and sophisticated finish that complemented the overall appearance of the building.

The Human Nature Collection from Interface was selected for the field carpet finish for the first floor which totalled about 500m2. The three patterns from this range in Slate colour worked beautifully with the interior fitout as the overall look gave the appearance of slate floor. However, thanks to the use of carpet planks, the client still had acoustical benefits as well as a the soft underfoot comfort of a carpet in the office areas. The 25cm x 1m Interface plank combined well with the Interface Touch and Tones and Net Effect collection that were used as feature rug insets.

The Touch and Tones 103 shaggy carpet tile was installed as a rug inset in the boardroom areas of both UDEC and Neurospine. This helped create an area with a more luxurious feel as well as adding a variation in texture and interest in these spaces. UDEC opted for Touch and Tones 103, Taupe colour, for its boardroom with rug inset featured in the MD’s office. Neurospine chose Touch and Tones 103 in Ultramarine colour for the boardroom rug inset and then made use of Interface Net Effect colour pacific in keeping with the blue theme as a rug inset for the office of the MD.

Interface carpet tiles were also installed by KBAC Flooring in the four high-end offices on the ground floor. Style and quality were not compromised here as Employ Loop carpet tiles were installed as the main carpet throughout all the offices with accents of Employ lines. Each office received its own accent colour and each accent inset had a different installation pattern. This resulted in each office space having its own unique identity. About 500m2 of Employ Loop was installed as the field
carpet with 15m2 colour accents in four colours.

The overall carpet installation was a high design, quality floor finish that worked well with the contemporary
and sophisticated new head offices of the UDEC and Neurospine Groups.
